Technology for Disability Support · Western China Fair Special Session | Break Barriers with Fingertips, Feel the "Boundless" World — The Path of Technology Assisting the Disabled Behind a Braille Display
“Books are the ladder of human progress.”
However, for many people with visual impairments, this ladder has often been blocked by invisible barriers.
In an era of rapidly expanding information, being unable to read like everyone else means facing difficulties in accessing knowledge, pursuing education, and participating equally in society.
On May 21, during the 2026 Chongqing Assistive Technology Needs Matching and Experience Interaction Session of the China Western Cooperation and Investment Fair, Cao Xiuxiu, Co-founder of Wiltrue (Chongqing Infinite Horizons Co., Ltd.), presented an answer with a black refreshable Braille display.
As visually impaired visitors touched the device, the tiny metal pins on its surface rapidly moved up and down, producing precise mechanical movements and transforming the silent digital world into a stream of tactile information.
Together with her team, Cao Xiuxiu is using advanced accessibility technology to break down the barriers between people with visual impairments and the wider world.
For her, Wiltrue’s mission goes far beyond creating hardware devices. It is about:
“Enabling accessible reading and making knowledge without boundaries and the future without limits.”
Technology Should Create Equal Access to Information
Cao Xiuxiu believes that people with visual impairments do not lack the ability or the desire to participate in society — what they need are equal channels to access information.
Through technology, Wiltrue aims to reduce the digital divide and ensure that knowledge is no longer limited by vision.
This, she believes, is the true meaning of technology-enabled accessibility.
From Braille displays to smart mobility devices and tactile voice power banks, Wiltrue continues focusing on real-life challenges faced by visually impaired users.
Every product begins with a simple question:
“What barriers prevent people from living more independently?”
Helping People Step Outside: From Information Isolation to Equal Reading
“Our core product philosophy is simple and firm: we hope people with visual impairments can step outside their homes and live lives just like everyone else.”
When discussing the original motivation behind product development, Cao Xiuxiu explained that although accessibility infrastructure has continued to improve, many visually impaired people still face a serious challenge — an “information island.”
Physical accessibility is only one part of inclusion.
True inclusion also requires access to information, education, and digital resources.
Through accessible technology, Wiltrue hopes to help visually impaired users move from information isolation toward independent learning, working, and participating in society.
https://www.cqnews.net/web/content_1508779505066643456.html
